Spärkel carbonators are made of a special granulation and concentration of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate. Both the concentration and granulation have a direct impact on the pressure generated in the system, the quality of carbonation and the durability of the appliance.
We tested many sources of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate when developing the system. We found that the citric acid and sodium bicarbonate available to consumers typically do not have the required concentration nor granulation to work consistently with the system. In some cases, we found that using non-standard materials with Spärkel causes the beverage system performance to decline over time. In most cases, we found that carbonation quality is negatively impacted.
For that reason, we can only guarantee system performance, beverage consistency and warranty claims when using Spärkel carbonators.
